Damien Woody Is Not Ready To Write Off Patriots Despite Tom Brady’s Exit

The New England Patriots will have to play the next season without their star signal-caller. Tom Brady left the organization after two decades. There were so many rumors about the quarterback and his offseason move. Some of them turned out to be true. Brady decided to take his talents south. He signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will stay there for at least two years. Head coach Bill Belichick will never replace his star quarterback. Brady left a huge hole on the roster. There won’t be another Tom Brady. But, Damien Woody is an optimist.

The former Patriots offensive lineman and ESPN analyst is well aware of the challenge New England accepted. He knows that the Patriots will face a lot of uncertainties in 2020. Playing without TB12 would be almost impossible. However, Woody is convinced that the Patriots would move on without any major problem.

Damien Woody supports the Pats

Woody didn’t write off the Patriots despite the fact that they are entering a brand new era. Woody shared his reasons to feel that way. He talked to Boston Herald’s Karen Guregian on Saturday and discussed the Patriots’ situation.

“I know the teams in the AFC East are jumping for joy with Tom (Brady) gone,” Woody told Guregian. “But listen, they still have the best coach in NFL history. The organization isn’t dead, but when you don’t have the greatest quarterback of all time on your roster, you’re going to take a hit. So they’re going to take a step back, but I don’t see them falling into the abyss. “I think the Patriots want to retool; whether it’s Jarrett Stidham or they acquire another veteran. Then they’ll reallocate funds to some of the defections they had on defense.”

Brady signed a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers worth $60 million. The team isn’t allowed to trade him or change anything regarding the contract.

Seeing Tom Brady play with another team would be really hard, but the Patriots nation will have hard time accepting this. Brady won’t confront his team in 2020. However, he is coming to Foxboro in 2021.
