Patriots Relese Full List Of Inactives For Game Against Jets

The New England Patriots are taking on the New York Jets without their starting safety. Patrick Chung is among the inactives, and the team has released the full list of players who won’t play tonight.

Safety Patrick Chung (chest/heel), wide receiver Josh Gordon (knee/ankle), tight end Ryan Izzo (concussion), tight end Matt LaCosse (knee), running back Rex Burkhead (foot), defensive end Michael Bennett (suspension) and offensive tackle Korey Cunningham (healthy) won’t suit up for the game.

Safety Duron Harmon is expected to start for Chung. According to experts, safety Terrence Brooks and cornerbacks JC Jackson and Jonathan Jones are expected to see more action tonight.

Wide receivers Phillip Dorsett and Gunner Olzewski struggle with injuries but they are active for the game. They will help Julian Edelman and Jakobi Meyers on the field.

Tight ends Ben Watson and Eric Tomlinson will have their season debuts after joining the team this week. Watson is actually re-joining the Pats.

Rookie Damien Harris is active for his second game, because he didn’t play in the first.

Rookie defensive end Byron Cowart will take Bennett’s spot on the roster.

Marshall Newhouse, Joe Thuny, Ted Karras, Shaq Mason, Marcus Cannon, James Ferentz and Jermaine Eluemunor will become part of the offensive line.

CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco believes that New England is winning this game.

The Jets got their first victory last week when Sam Darnold returned to give them life. But this is a major challenge against the dominant Patriots defense. The Jets will hang around in this one, though, because the New England offense isn’t clicking. Pats win it, but it’s close.”

WEEI’s Andy Hart goes with the Patriots, too.

“It’s 6-0 vs. 1-4. Should be a cakewalk, right? Not so fast my friends. Not on the road in the division against a Jets team that has things looking up just a bit. Not given the questions regarding the New England passing game. Not for a Brady-led squad that’s seen itself struggle at times each week since the second quarter of the first meeting with the Jets. Make no mistake, the Patriots are the better team with better talent and better coaching. That’s why they’ll win. But there will be times when Jamal Adams and the Jets defense build some momentum. And the Patriots may not get the special teams and defensive touchdowns that Belichick has called bonus points. Run the ball, use the short passing game, play solid defense and leave New York with a 24-10 win. It doesn’t have to be pretty or a blowout, just survive and advance to 7-0.”
