Drew Brees Says He Doesn’t See Tom Brady Leaving New England

The New England Patriots may lose their star quarterback this season. Tom Brady has been part of the organization for two decades. Head coach Bill Belichick may give him a chance to test the open market. That’s exactly what former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski encouraged the GOAT to do. Well, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has an interesting take on Brady’s free agency decision.

Brees appeared on WEEI’s “Greg Hill Show,” and talked about Brady’s situation. It looks like he doesn’t possess an inside knowledge of the quarterback’s decision. However, he did admit he’d be very surprised if TB12 signed with a different team this offseason. In other words, Brees believes that Brady will stay with his current team.

“I love Tom Brady,” the quarterback said. “… He’s a legend. I don’t see him going anywhere, but I can’t speak for him or anybody else.”

When it comes to his future, Brees said he doesn’t plan to leave the Saints. The veteran quarterback started his career with the San Diego Chargers. He joined the Saints in 2006. Brees became the league’s third-longest-tenured quarterback behind TB12 (with New England since 2000) and Ben Roethlisberger (with Pittsburgh since 2004).

Drew Brees isn’t going anywhere

Last month, Brees said that retirement isn’t even an option.

“Listen, I have no intention of going anywhere,” the quarterback said on WEEI. “I don’t care what the offer would be or what the situation might be, I am Who Dat Nation for life.”

Brady will turn 43 in August. He has attracted the attention of Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Chargers and San Francisco 49ers. Brady will become an unrestricted free agent on March 18. If he doesn’t reach an agreement with head coach Bill Belichick, Brady will probably go somewhere else.

Brees can’t imagine Brady putting on a different uniform. Patrick Mahomes said the same when asked about Brady’s free agency. Brady and Belichick reportedly had a phone conversation that didn’t go well. How will the whole situation end? Will Brady pack his stuff and go somewhere else? Las Vegas maybe? It’s a long offseason for everyone.
