Every basketball fan knows that the 1997-98 season ended magnificently. Chicago won its third consecutive title and sixth in the last eight years. The Bulls defeated Karl Malone and the Utah Jazz in six games.
The Last Dance is brilliant
In Game 6 of the 1998 Finals, MJ hit the “The Last Shot.” Jordan pulled out one of the nastiest crossovers in basketball history, and then knocked down a 17-footer with 5.2 seconds remaining. This gave the Bulls an 87-86 lead.
A lot of players praise Jordan for his success and use his work as an inspiration. LeBron is one of them. The superstar happens to wear the same number on his jersey. LeBron dreamed of being “like Mike” as a player.
“So when I started playing basketball, I was like: ‘Oh man, that two-three looks good. I wanna be able to fly like him,’” LeBron told Bleacher Report. “‘I wanna be able to shoot like him. I wanna be able to dunk on somebody like him. I wanna be able to stick out my tongue like him in the air and yell in somebody’s face like MJ.’”
LeBron has a lot of respect for Jordan. He’s been idolizing the Bulls icon this whole time. On one occasion, LeBron said he was chasing “the ghost from Chicago.” Well, he’s got a great motivation, and that will help him push up those numbers. LeBron has three titles, and he is going after his fourth. Will he win it this season?
