Report: Patriots Hire Former Browns, Packers Executive

The New England Patriots are ready to make some great changes this offseason. The team missed the chance to win a Super Bowl in 2019. This means that they are really ready to bring new names to the organization. This time, head coach Bill Belichick and the Patriots are bringing in an experienced executive.

The organization has hired former Cleveland Browns executive Eliot Wolf as a consultant, as confirmed by a report Wednesday from The MMQB’s Albert Breer.

The 37-year-old executive spent the last two seasons as Cleveland’s assistant general manager. He parted ways with the team following the hiring of new GM Andrew Berry. Berry tried to convince Wolf to remain in Cleveland but this attempt was unsuccessful.

Before his time in Cleveland, Wolf spent 14 seasons with the Green Bay Packers. His father, Pro Football Hall of Famer Ron Wolf, was the general manager of the team. The younger Wolf was active in six different positions in the Packers’ front office. He started from pro personnel assistant and ended up being director of football operations.

Prior to his hiring by the Patriots, Wolf assisted the Seattle Seahawks with their pre-draft scouting. He has also garnered interest as a general manager candidate in the past few years.

Patriots have strong executives

The top tier of the Patriots’ personnel operation was intact earlier this offseason. The organization signed director of player personnel Nick Caserio to a multi-year extension.

Quarterback Tom Brady is next on the list. The star quarterback is set to hit the open market on March 18. He has never been in a similar situation, and the Patriots will do whatever it takes to keep him on the roster. Brady has helped the Patriots win six Super Bowls.

Head coach Belichick has the final word. He may be worried about Brady’s injuries and age. These two talked on the phone this week, and according to reports, the conversation didn’t go well.

Let’s see what happens by the end of this month. New England is about to enter a new era. Who will stay on the ship? Will Brady be part of the champions in 2020?
