Report: New Patriots Kicker Justin Rohrwasser Will Cover Controversial Tattoo

The New England Patriots finished Day 3 of the 2020 NFL Draft with controversy on their back. The team selected kicker Justin Rohrwasser out of Marshall. It looks like NFL fans don’t approve one of his tattoos.

During his introductory conference call, Rohrwasser was asked about the Three Percenters tattoo on his left arm. Someone would explain that the Three Percenters are a “far-right militia movement and paramilitary group.”

The newly-acquired kicker was pretty honest about his ink work.

“I got that tattoo when I was a teenager,” Rohrwasser explained. “I had a lot of family in the military, and I thought it stood for a military support symbol at the time. Obviously, it evolved into something that I did not want to represent. When I look back on it, I should have done way more research before I put any mark or symbol like that on my body. It’s not something I want to represent. So, it will be covered.”

Justin Rohrwasser accepted the challenge

Rohrwasser is a New Yorker. The kicker started off his college career at the University of Rhode Island and then moved on with the Marshall team. In his two seasons at URI, Rohrwasser saw 15 of his 20 field goal attempts (75 percent) and 39 of his 41 extra-point attempts (98 percent).

During his time at Marshall, Rorhwasser saw 33 of his 42 field goal attempts (78.6 percent) and 79 of his 82 extra-point attempts (96.3 percent). In 2019, the kicker had both of his attempts from 50-plus yards. The most memorable detail is his career-long hit from 53 yards.

The Patriots’ new kicker went to Catholic Central High School. Rohrwasser was a soccer player and ran track. He kicked for two seasons, and made 8 of his 10 field goal attempts. Rohrwasser never missed an extra point. He saw snaps at receiver, quarterback, and linebacker.

The Patriots did a really good job with their draft picks, and head coach Bill Belichick moves on with the plan. He has a few more voids to fill, and this includes a quarterback. Will he add a quarterback this spring? New England may not need one.
