Report: NFL Analyst Reveals When Patriots Will Select A Quarterback

The New England Patriots were left without their star quarterback. Tom Brady took his talents to Tampa. The star quarterback will play with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in September and he is really proud of his accomplishment. Brady made a bold decision, but he deserved every right to do that. He has six rings in his pocket, and that’s not something you underestimate. But the Patriots will have to select a quarterback.

New England has Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham on the roster now. Stidham doesn’t have the experience head coach Bill Belichick needs on the field. According to initial reports, Belichick will use Hoyer in Week 1 of the new season. What about the remainder of the season? A great number of analysts predict that the Patriots will go after a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft.

If you ask Ian Rapoport from NFL Media, he will say that the Patriots will pick their quarterback by Friday. This is a rather bold prediction, and Rapoport’s predictions are pretty precise.

Rapoport went on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” and discussed the topic. He believes that the Patriots will get their quarterback in the first three rounds on the draft that’s set to begin Thursday night.

The Patriots need to select a quarterback

Teams will have chance to pick between Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert, Jordan Love, Jacob Eason, Jake Fromm and Jalen Hurts.

Burrow is the presumptive No. 1 overall pick. There’s almost zero chance for him to end up signing with New England. Tagovailoa and Herbert will probably require trade-ups from No. 23. The same applies to Love. Eason, Fromm, and Hurts will probably find their home on Day 2. These three may not be available when the Patriots jump in with their No. 87 pick.

Some reports suggest that the Patriots really like Hurts. His dual-threat skill set may be of great help for Josh McDaniels and his offense.

Anthony Gordon, James Morgan, Nate Stanley, Jake Luton, Cole McDonald and others will probably join a team on Day 3 of the draft. They will probably go between the fourth and seventh round.

Rapoport has noted that the Pats will use a “premium pick” on a quarterback.
