Todd McShay Believes This Quarterback Prospect ‘Makes A Lot Of Sense’ For New England

Is Jake Fromm the right quarterback option for the New England Patriots? NFL draft analyst Todd McShay believes that Fromm would be a good fit for head coach Bill Belichick and his team.

The NFL draft analyst believes that Fromm would be of great help for the Patriots now that Brady is gone.  McShay believes that the Patriots may be in the signal-caller market during the middle rounds of the upcoming draft. For him, Washington’s Jacob Eason is the most talented quarterback prospect from the mid-tier group. He also suggested that Fromm is a much better choice for the Pats.

“I think Jake Fromm makes a lot of sense, but he doesn’t have the physical tools you ideally look for,” McShay said. “But if you’re going to bring in Andy Dalton, I would rather have Jake Fromm because he’s the same guy physically and he’s younger and he understands the game at a high level.”

Todd McShay is right

McShay had some words of praise for Fromm and his skills. According to him, Fromm is the smartest quarterback he has ever seen.

“Of all the quarterbacks I’ve sat down with and talked to the last two years in college football in the meeting room, just getting to know them, watching them, listening to what they’re saying in response to one play to the next, Jake Fromm is the smartest, most mature quarterback that I’ve been around in the last two years. So Fromm would make a lot of sense even though physically he doesn’t have the tools you’re looking for and he’s struggled in bad weather. In New England, obviously, that’s an issue.”

Is there another quarterback option for the Patriots?

Former NFL Dan Orlovsky says that Fromm may be a nice fit a Belichick-driven team because of his ability to “connect the dots as good as anyone.”

McShay is convinced that Stidham isn’t ready to be a starter for the Patriots. Brian Hoyer will probably compete for the starting position. But, this analysis suggests that Belichick will try to sign a new name.

Patriots players are pretty confident about Stidham and his talent. Devin McCourty believes that his Patriots have all the talent they need to be competitors. Stephon Gilmore is also impressed with the second-year quarterback. Let’s see what happens next.
