Colin Cowherd Believes This Star Quarterback Fits Patriots Based On Personality

The New England Patriots won’t just accept everyone in their organization. A quarterback can’t just join the Patriots. They wouldn’t trust him right away. Tom Brady was a leading signal-caller for two decades, and the Patriots lost him in free agency. Brady signed a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he will probably retire as a Buccaneer. Bill Belichick and Nick Caserio didn’t select a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft. Many interpreted this move as a chance for Jarrett Stidham. Belichick said he was satisfied with Stidham and Brian Hoyer. Colin Cowherd knows which quarterback fits best the Patriots’ organization.

Drew Brees.

Cowherd did an exercise last week to connect each top quarterback with the team that fits his personality. Baker Bayfield is the best pick for the Las Vegas Raisers. Patrick Mahomes would thrive well with the Dallas Cowboys. That’s what Cowherd said.

When it comes to Brees, Cowherd believes that he is the best fit for the New England Patriots.

“These are just the big quarterback brands: overlooked, smart, intense, resilient,” Cowherd said on FS1. “What’s the city with 51 universities in it? Has to deal with harsh weather? New England Patriots. You know, Tom Brady, he’s a California guy. Drew Brees played in the Big 10. I’ve always thought Brees feels like a Belichick guy. A grinder, resilient, overlooked, little edge to him.”

A quarterback for the Patriots

Brees and Belichick could have made the best quarterback-head coach duo. Brady is a Bay Area native, but he played in the Big 10. Brees comes from Texas and he played worse in cold areas.

This may be a fun exercise, and Cowherd didn’t really give us an opportunity to start off a discussion. Maybe Brees is the best fit for Belichick and the Patriots. Maybe Coach B should take this into consideration.

Belichick may be confident about the second-year quarterback. But, he may also make a few more options on his hand. Impossible is nothing, and we may see a different story in the next few season. Everything points to the fact that Belichick will use Stidham as a starting quarterback in September.
