Patriots WR Mohamed Sanu Is Out Of His Walking Boot

The New England Patriots made some changes in the past few weeks. The team will enter the 2020 NFL season with a new roster. Tom Brady is no longer a Patriot as he signed a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency. The team added a few valuable names to the roster last season. Mohamed Sanu is one of them.

The veteran wideout had a surgery to repair the ankle injury he sustained in the 2019 season. NFL Network’s Michael Giardi reported that the veteran is out of the boot. Sanu will also start off his rehabilitation.

The Patriots need Mohamed Sanu

This is an encouraging update for the Patriots nation and Sanu himself. Sanu suffered an injury right after the Patriots traded for him. New England acquired Sanu through a trade deal with the Atlanta Falcons. The team lost a second-round pick to get the veteran.

Sanu was sidelined for one game. However, the wideout had to treat his injury to prevent further damage. New England got the wideout to add depth to the unit, but he didn’t live up to the expectations. Sanu finished the season with 26 receptions, 207 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Brady is out of the team now, and the rest of the players will have to make up for the loss. Everyone will have to try extra hard to boost the offense.

The Patriots also have to make a decision about the starting position. Will Jarrett Stidham start games in September? The second-year quarterback has all the talent to lead the Patriots team. Of course, he doesn’t have the same experience as Brady. But, he can develop in a really good way. Veteran journeyman Brian Hoyer is also in line. He may compete with Stidham for the starting position. New England also added two undrafted free agents after the 2020 NFL Draft.

Seeing Sanu get out of his walking boot is great news for every Patriots fan. New England will need to have Sanu completely healthy in 2020. That’s why they got him. Sanu is a talented wideout and he will work really well with the rest of the group.
