Report: New England Patriots Sign Five 2020 Draft Picks

The New England Patriots announced the signing of several draft picks, including LB Josh Uche, K Justin Rohrwasser, OL Justin Herron, LB Cassh Maluia, OL Anfernee Jennings, and Dustin Woodard. We don’t have much information about the terms of the contracts.

The Patriots selected Uche in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the 60th overall pick. The Michigan 6-foot-2, 245-pounder was a three-year letterman in his team and played in 39 games. Uche finished with 56 total tackles and 16½ sacks. In 2019, Uche was named the Defensive Player of the Year. He also earned second-team All-Big Ten honors.

The Patriots signed great draft picks

The Patriots selected Rohrwasser in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the 159th overall pick. The Marshall 6-foot-3, 230-pounder started off his collegiate career at Rhode Island. Rohrwasser stayed there for two seasons and then went to Marshall. He played in 47 games over four seasons. Rohrwasser was able to convert 48-of-62 field goals (77.4 percent) and 118-of-123 extra points (95.9 percent). In 2019, he played in all 13 games and had 18-of-21 field goals (85.7 percent) with a long of 53 and hit on 35-of-36 extra points (97.2 percent). Rohrwasser was named Conference USA Special Teams Most Valuable Player. The talented player earned first-team all-conference honors for Conference USA.

The Patriots selected Herron in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the 195th overall pick. The Wake Forest 6-foot-5, 305-pounder had a really great game with his team. Herron had a school record with 51 games starts in his career. He was named to the All-ACC Academic Football Team in 2016, 2017, and 2019. In 2019, Herron became the team captain and started all 13 games. He earned third-team All-ACC honors.

New England has a lot of talented players. Second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham will probably take the starting position in September. The team didn’t select a quarterback in the draft. This means they are confident about Stidham’s skillset.

The Patriots will have more signings this week. Maybe Bill Belichick will have a few more ideas ahead of the 2020 season. It’s time for practice!
