Patriots’ Cam Newton Delivers New Message About COVID-19

Cam Newton tested positive for COVID-19 and caused him to miss the game against the Kansas City Chiefs. It was very unfortunate timing for the New England Patriots. They were in a bit of a rhythm going into week 4. It was already going to be a tough game for the Patriots. The Chiefs are easily one of the best teams in the entire NFL. Without their starting quarterback, it was going to be tough for them to win.

Newton’s positive COVID test forced the game to be postponed by a day. They were a bit lucky that it was not pushed back even further. Newton’s absent was definitely seen and felt. If he played, it would have been a much different game. Just take a look at what Bill Belichick has said in the past.

“He’s come in and do everything we’ve asked him to do,” Belichick said recently. “He works had. He’s obviously a very talented player and looking forward to continue to work with him. We’ll just take it day-by-day, but he’s given us everything he’s had and we’ve tried to put the team in the best position we can competitively. We’ll see how that all comes out. I’m sure a lot of things will change as the season goes along. We are where we are for right now and just keep trying to get better every day.”

But now Newton is out in force against the COVID. He has come out with some advice for getting rid of COVID.

“Wear your mask. Keep your distance,” Newton wrote, attaching a picture of himself wearing a mask.

Pretty scary stuff.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport also recently gave an update on Newton.

“If we assume that Cam Newton continues to not have symptoms and theoretically he tests [negative] twice after a five-day period, then he would be able to get back on the field against the Broncos,” Rapoport said. “The problem is, that all is determined by when the virus actually leaves his system. He had it Saturday, had it late Friday night.

“Does it leave his system in time enough to get ready for the Broncos [this Sunday]? As of right now, it seems far-fetched, but it is possible.”

What do you think about what he had to say?
