Greg Olsen Had Epic Reaction To Cam Newton Deal With New England Patriots

Former Carolina Panthers quarterback was looking for a home in the NFL. He wasn’t trying to ink a big deal this offseason. The veteran could have played with many NFL teams, including the New England Patriots. Head coach Bill Belichick didn’t do anything to fuel the rumors. Well, things changed in a few days, and the Patriots offered Newton a one-year deal. He was more than excited about this deal and the opportunity New England gave him. what does Greg Olsen say about the Cam Newton signing?

Newton spent a few months on the open market, and the only thing he received was the veteran minimum. Well, it was more than a brilliant offer and he accepted it. This gives Newton a chance to sign a better deal. There’s always room for more cash, and the Patriots are willing to give him $7.5 million. Of course, Newton has to meet the incentives.

Greg Olsen was shocked after the Cam Newton signing

Newton’s former teammate couldn’t really believe that the Patriots are interested in getting Newton on such light terms. Olsen joined the Panthers the same year they selected Newton. According to him, the Patriots will get tons of talent for little money. It was actually a low-risk move for the team.

“My head popped off when I saw how much he signed for. It’s the all-time greatest deal,” the veteran tight end said Wednesday on ESPN’s “First Take.” “I’m the biggest Cam Newton advocate out there. He’s been amazing for not only my career, but so many other guys that had the opportunity to play with him the last eight, nine years in Carolina. I just couldn’t be happier that he has a chance to go out there and show people that he can still play at a high level. He is not a different person than he was that MVP year. He’s had a couple injuries, he’s had a couple down seasons. I understand what that’s like, I’ve been there myself. I couldn’t be happier for him. New England’s gonna find out pretty quick just what a special competitor he is. He’s gonna be just fine.”

Newton has yet to earn the quarterback spot. The Patriots lost Tom Brady in free agency, but they have two other quarterbacks on the depth chart. Jarrett Stidham was the first quarterback to step in Brady’s shoes. Veteran journeyman Brian Hoyer was also an option. Head coach Bill Belichick will make a decision during the Patriots training camp.
