Report: Cam Newton Will Start For Patriots Under One Condition

The New England Patriots make the hottest headlines in the NFL world. The quarterback topic is still here. Head coach Bill Belichick will soon make  a decision and fans have made a few predictions. Cam Newton was super excited to join the Patriots. Of course, the veteran has to stay healthy to keep his job.

Platooning Newton and second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham was one of the options Belichick had. Stidham is a talented player, but Newton has a better experience. Belichick didn’t really shut down the platooning idea, but his comments were sort of confusing.

“Yeah, it might [make sense],” the Patriots head coach said about the platoon. “Look, I always say I’ll do what I think is best for the team, what gives us the best chance to win. Whatever that is, I would certainly consider that. If it’s run an unbalanced line or double-unbalanced line or 23 personnel or whatever it is. If it helps us win, then I would consider anything.”

Cam Newton to start games for the Patriots

Newton will have to try really hard to get the job. He will do whatever it takes to earn Belichick’s trust. Carolina released him in March and Newton struggled to find his home in the league. New England offered him a million to join the team.

Patriots offensive coordinator McDaniels has been working really hard to create the right formula for Newton. He contacted Newton’s former coaches to learn more about the 2015 NFL MVP. If Newton stays healthy, the Patriots will put him under center.

That’s the only condition. Newton’s health has been a major concern and that’s why most teams ignored him this offseason. The quarterback saw action in just two games since mid-December of 2018. What’s his biggest problem?

According to sources, Newton’s shoulder poses a bigger problem than his foot. The quarterback had a surgery to fix his Lisfranc injury in December. Newton had two shoulder surgeries in March 2017 and January 2019.

Belichick will have to evaluate the situation and decide what’s best for the team. He likes Newton and he is doing fine in training camp. Should we add more?
