Patriots Catch a Break With Major Raiders Injury Before Week 3

The New England Patriots received a nice break before their showdown with the Las Vegas Raiders week 3. New England is looking much better this year than they were at this time last year. The new and improved offense is looking like they are actually able to move the ball up and down the field. This is likely due to newly signed QB Cam Newton and his ability to make plays.

Newton has been on Bill Belichick’s radar for awhile now. He has give him compliments in the past about what he has seen from the former NFL MVP. It sounds like Belichick is very impressed with what he has seen so far.

“He’s come in and do everything we’ve asked him to do,” Belichick said of Newton in the past. “He works hard. He’s obviously a very talented player and looking forward to continue to work with him. We’ll just take it day-by-day, but he’s given us everything he’s had and we’ve tried to put the team in the best position we can competitively. We’ll see how that all comes out. I’m sure a lot of things will change as the season goes along. We are where we are for right now and just keep trying to get better every day.”

But now they are going into week 3, with a record of 1-1. They will be looking to get back into the winning column against the Raiders. And it looks like they got some good news in the injury report this week.

According to the latest injury report, the Raiders’ great rookie receiver Henry Ruggs III will not be playing against the Patriots due to several different injuries.

Offensive coordinator Greg Olsen talked about Ruggs and what he brings to the table.

“Again, we see the speed. I think it’s just a matter of time between he and Derek to get a chance to hit those full-speed routes together. We’re happy with where he’s at. I know there’s probably frustration out there, ‘Why’s this guy not getting more explosive plays?’ But they’ll come. It’s just time.”
