Cam Newton Tells What Went Wrong On Patriots’ Final Play vs Broncos

Cam Newton did not play very well vs the Broncos. It has been a very hard few weeks for the New England Patriots organization. New England has been attempting to get back on track after a few different positive COVID tests hit their team quite hard. This was difficult to deal with as you could imagine.

Bill Belichick has talked about what the Patriots are trying to do to get back on track recently. It has obviously been hard to deal with for them. But it is also important that they bounce back. Take a look at what he said.

“Today’s an important day in our preparation for the Broncos,” Belichick said. “We’ve had several days now of virtual meetings between the staff members and from the staff to the players. We’ve been able to cover a lot of things, but we haven’t spent any time together, so today’s our opportunity to do that. We look forward to that. One thing that we’ve learned this year repeatedly has been we have to be ready to adjust and adapt to changes and modifications and the way we do things and, in some cases, decisions that really come down to a very short amount of time that we have to be ready to adjust to.”

“So we’re certainly taking things day by day — probably hour by hour would be more accurate. We’ll just see how we progress and then as we find out more on our end, or if there are other things externally that we can’t control that, then we’ll deal with those as they come. That’s the way it’s been all year. I think our team and our players have done a good job of handling those adjustments, and we’ll continue to do that.”

But now Newton has talked about what went wrong against the Broncos.

“We didn’t execute the way we’re supposed to, and that’s a lot,” the Patriots quarterback said. “That was contingent upon me. I knew I was going to get hit, so I just tried to find a spot to give him (the ball) so he could make a play on it. There was a defender on the interior part stealing the field, so I still tried to give him an opportunity. So that’s what it came down to.”

“It wasn’t a miscommunication,” Newton said. “We tried to anticipate where he was going to be. I let the ball go prior to him breaking on his initial route. I knew I was going to get hit, and I tried to give him a chance.”
