Insider Reveals Details Of Vikings, Giants Trade Offers To Patriots For No. 3 Pick

The New England Patriots had the highest pick in the last three decades. Many expected the Patriots to trade their No.3 pick and get a more favorable player. They showed interest in multiple players, but decided to use the first-round pick to get a quarterback. Drake Maye was the best option available in the draft. According to several sources, the Patriots had an opportunity to trade their first-round.

Maye joins a new-look Patriots team led by newly-hired head coach Jerod Mayo. NFL analysts claim that the Patriots weren’t the only team to show interest in Maye. He is incredibly talented and even former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick praised his efficacy on the field.

Patriots didn’t want to trade the No.3 pick

Albert Breer reported that Maye was also a desired pick for the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Giants. He added that both teams made offers to the Patriots. According to Breer, the Vikings wanted Maye and were willing to give up on the 11th and 23rd picks and a first-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. New York decided to offer the 2025 first-round pick to get Maye.

As you may be guessing, the Patriots didn’t even think of giving up on Maye. They were locked in on Maye. Breer added that “nothing came close” to make the Patriots change their mind. He even noted that the offers New York and Minnesota made only “emboldened New England to stay put.”

The Vikings were definitely sure about making some trades. They agreed to a trade deal with the New York Jets and went up to Number 10. New England used the pick to get Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy. They also got the 17th overall pick and used it to get Alabama edge rusher Dallas Turner.

The Patriots, on the other hand, seem to be really impressed by Maye. He is also excited about the new beginning and appreciates the chance he was given.
