Multiple Reports List Patriots as Potential Suitor For Former All-Pro Running Back

The Patriots might just have a new running back. The New England Patriots have been having some trouble in the past few weeks. It all started when Cam Newton tested positive or COVID-19 ahead of the Patriots game with the Kansas City Chiefs. Sadly, this came at a very bad time for the Patriots. Newton was just now getting started and his absence definitely was felt by the rest of the team. This caused them to be beaten pretty handily by the Chiefs.

But they Patriots are definitely ready to bounce back. Head coach and General Manager Bill Belichick recently came out with what the Patriots are trying to do to get back on track. Take a look at what he said.

“Today’s an important day in our preparation for the Broncos,” Belichick said. “We’ve had several days now of virtual meetings between the staff members and from the staff to the players. We’ve been able to cover a lot of things. But we haven’t spent any time together, so today’s our opportunity to do that. We look forward to that. One thing that we’ve learned this year repeatedly has been we have to be ready to adjust. Adapt to changes and modifications and the way we do things . In some cases, decisions that really come down to a very short amount of time that we have to be ready to adjust to.”

“So we’re certainly taking things day by day — probably hour by hour would be more accurate. We’ll just see how we progress and then as we find out more on our end, or if there are other things externally that we can’t control that, then we’ll deal with those as they come. That’s the way it’s been all year. I think our team and our players have done a good job of handling those adjustments, and we’ll continue to do that.”

Now there are multiple reports that lost the Patriots as a potential landing spot for a former All Pro running back.

Jake Nisse reported for the New York Times. “Bill Belichick has always been a master of redemption projects, and Bell — just three years removed from being named a first-team All-Pro — is more talented than many of the projects he has undertaken. With Tom Brady gone, the Pats have committed even further to the run. But a running backs room of Damien Harris, Rex Burkhead and James White won’t blow anyone away. Bell could form a killer partnership with Cam Newton in Foxborough if Belichick calls.”

Do you think this is a viable option?
