Peter King Argues Bill Belichick Needs to Make This Realization

The New England Patriots play poor football, and the team has lost three straight games. The situation in New England is less than ideal, and the team has to do something to prevent any further damage. Peter King delivered a big message for Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. It’s a reasonable suggestion, and the Patriots better take it into consideration.

King doesn’t see the Patriots as a dominant threat. He doesn’t expect the team to make any noise or reach the playoffs in 2020. According to him, Belichick and his team have to start working on their future.

Peter King has a suggestion for Bill Belichick

New England has a few important questions to address at the moment. Picking the right starting quarterback may be the biggest problem here. If Belichick plans to regain his offensive power, he needs to change some things.

“…They have to concentrate on a deep rebuild and that’s going to start with figuring out if Cam Newton is the guy,” King said Tuesday on NBC Sports’ “Pro Football Talk.” “It’s going to continue with, in my opinion, Bill Belichick finally coming to the realization that the quarterback and the offensive coordinator simply cannot be asked to be the solution for all of the offensive problems. There is not a single skill player on that offense that any defensive coordinator in the league says, ‘Man, we have to be worried about (X) on Sunday.’”

The Patriots have tried to boost the offense in the recent selections. In the past three NFL Drafts, the Patriots have selected Sony Michel, N’Keal Harry, Damien Harris, Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene. Harris may be the only player to meet the expectations.

New England may change the scheme and get a talented veteran. The team may trade for a valuable player in order to fix some of the damage.

One thing stands for sure. Belichick and his team will have to do a lot of work in the next few months. Tom Brady left the team in March, giving the Patriots a big headache.
