Cam Newton Makes Confident Statement On Patriots Offense

Starting quarterback Cam Newton will lead the New England Patriots to another big game, and this time the offense better level up the performance. The 2015 NFL MVP shocked everyone with his fumble in the final moments of Week 8. Newton led his team to a loss, and it looks like Patriots players couldn’t play against one of the best offenses in the league. The Buffalo Bills were well prepared for Bill Belichick and his players.

Newton was pretty disappointed, but this loss actually encouraged him to do better in Monday Night Football. The starting quarterback is convinced that the Patriots offense has great potential. It’s “alive,” and Patriots almost won their game against the Bills.

“I felt like, for me personally, one play can make you feel like the man or make you feel as low (as) the lowest man,” Newton said in Friday’s video conference. “You know what I’m saying? And for me, going back and looking at the film, it was a great week of preparation, I admit that, and then it just came down to just ball security. But all in all, as an offense, I think we’re extremely close. If we just keep stacking bricks on top of bricks on top of bricks, then hopefully we can put a full 60 minutes together this weekend.”

Cam Newton to lead Patriots players to a win

In the final three drives in Week 8, New England players averaged 7.6 yards per play and 7.9 yards per rush, and were able to complete 7 of 9 passes for 73 yards, score touchdowns on back-to-back possessions and hit the Bills’ 19-yard line on the third before their starting quarterback lost the ball while scrambling. This was a positive development for the struggling offense. Patriots’ offense had just two touchdowns and 34 points in the previous 14 quarters.

New England was successful on early downs in the late-game rally. They limited the second/third-and-long scenarios that affected their offense in the early going.

Maybe the Patriots offense will try even harder in the upcoming match.

“So we’ve just got to do a better job of being more efficient on earlier downs and knowing what we have to do as an offense to play complementary football with the defense, the special teams and things like that. All these keys have not changed since Week 1,” Newton said. “We’ve just got to do a better job with honing in and doing what’s expected of us.”
