Close Friend of Top Free Agent Shares Lakers Themed Photo

The Los Angeles Lakers have been linked with several great basketball names. Each of these players will soon become free agents. Well, LA will have to give up on some players to get another superstar. According to NFL analysts, the team has been linked to Toronto Raptors big man Serge Ibaka. The top free agent may be making his way to the Lakers.

Sean Deveney of Heavy reported that the Lakers could really use the top defender. The rumor has yet to be confirmed. It looks like both parties share the same interest. Shannon Sharpe from Fox Sports shared a photoshopped photo of Ibaka wearing a Lakers jersey. This is a normal thing in the world of NBA. But, one of Ibaka’s best friends actually reported the image. What does that mean?

Sugar is one of the few people to have more info on Ibaka’s next plan. His repost doesn’t mean anything, but it may also be a hint.

The free agent to join the Lakers

The Lakers won the championship, and they will probably try to build another elite roster. It’s a simple formula, and some of the current Lakers players may have to go.

Dwight Howard was one of the best players in the past two decades. However, his value dropped a little after a few bad seasons. Howard reinvented himself this past season and Lakers head coach Frank Vogel praised him as one of the top players off the bench. The veteran also got a starting spot at the end of the regular season.

Many NBA teams will need a solid big man. If Howard ends up playing with another team, the Lakers could easily replace him with Ibaka. Many have recognized him as a young version of Howard. Ibaka is a tough defender and he can score. The talented player has shot over 50% from the field in his basketball career. He would be the perfect addition to Anthony Davis. Let’s not forget that Vogel also coached Ibaka in Orlando.

LA is not the only team to show interest in Ibaka. Kevin Durant wants him too. They spent some time in Oklahoma City, and Ibaka may reunite with his former teammate.

The Houston Rockets may also try to get Ibaka as confirmed by ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.
