Frank Vogel Fires Back at Critics Who Claim Lakers’ Title Deserves an Asterisk

The Los Angeles Lakers have won the 17th title in team history and some people just won’t accept the idea that LeBron James won a title with his team. Well, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel responded to those who say the Lakers’ title deserves an asterisk. Many NBA fans would agree with him on this one.

Vogel had an interview with Kyle Goon of the Orange County Register and used the chance to slam critics who talk stuff about the Lakers.

“To endure that type of intense pressure environment, where every detail is scrutinized, where the intensity was high, to endure those meetings with no outlet of family, or whatever single guys would be doing, without an outlet, was one of the biggest challenges,” the Lakers head coach said. “It was a credit to all the participants to lean on and to support each other.”

Frank Vogel is right about the asterisk thing

LeBron James and Anthony Davis led the team to the top. The most powerful duo in the NBA kept Lakers players on top of the West. Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat had no chance against LeBron’s match. It took six games for the Lakers to win the NBA Finals. Butler’s team had a good game in Games 3 and 5. Believe it or not, the Lakers only lost five games in the 2020 playoffs. That’s not something you underestimate.

The only reason critics say LA’s title deserves an asterisk is because of King James. LeBron is hit with an unhealthy dose of criticism. Some people hate him and the idea of seeing him win games. Some fans still talk about the Big 3 in Miami. LeBron left the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2010, and he announced his decision on TV. ESPN’s “The Decision” was quite shocking back then.

LeBron is the only player in league history to win Finals MVP awards with three different franchises. Los Angeles needed LeBron and his leadership. He signed a four-time deal at the right time. His 2018 season was horrible and he suffered a bad injury. But, 2019-20 was brilliant. The king was brilliant.
