Patriots Advised to Make Big Changes to Gameplan Against Cardinals

The New England Patriots have a 4-6 record in the regular season. The team has attracted a lot of criticism in the past few months, and NFL experts don’t really predict a good future for the franchise. Head coach Bill Belichick and his team lost the game to the 2-7 Houston Texans. Veteran quarterback Cam Newton is leading the way for the team. The Patriots will play against the Arizona Cardinals Sunday, and there is some nice suggestion for the organization. Some would say that Belichick needs to expand the offensive scope.

Henry McKenna from USA Today ranks Patriots players and coaches after games, and this ranking depends on their performance and impact on the game. Damiere Byrd was No.1 in the game against the Texans. This was the best game in his career. Byrd was awesome, but offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels didn’t get top scores for his gameplan and play-calling. McKenna provide an advice for McDaniels, and maybe this is a good idea.

“It’s time to get bolder with the play calling. The conservative decision-making isn’t working.”

The Patriots offensive coordinator went pretty low on the ranking checking in. He ranks 34th of 54 Patriots evaluated.

Patriots to confront Cardinals with a different approach

Evan Lazar from CLNS agreed with McKenna. In one of his recent tweets, he implored McDaniels to “let the man Cook.”

“#Patriots QB Cam Newton on passes of 10+ air yards yesterday: 8-of-8, 207 yards (25.9 YPA), TD, perfect 158.3 passer rating. Let the man cook.”

A short passing game is not a good idea for the veteran quarterback. He entered the season with injury and arm strength issues. Well, Newton can throw the ball downfield effectively and he has so much to offer at this point.

The Patriots need to find the best balance. New England should be a team with a strong support in the running game.

McDaniels should allow Newton to take two shots deep per quarter in order to show variation. Let’s see what happens on Sunday.
