Latest News On Julian Edelman Return From The Injury

The New England Patriots are close to making the playoffs, and they have to win a few more games on the way. But, it looks like they won’t play with Julian Edelman and he may not return following the knee injury.

Adam Schefter from ESPN reported that the veteran wideout is “still a couple of weeks” away from hitting the field again. Edelman hasn’t seen any action since Week 7 and he does his best to prepare for his return. The 34-year-old has had a knee procedure in October to treat the ailment.

Is there anything we could cheer for right now? According to Schefter, Edelman plans to hit the field again this season. A healthy veteran could do great things for the Patriots’ passing game. Veteran quarterback Cam Newton couldn’t do much through the air in the past few games.

Edelman had a strong start this season. He had 13 receptions for 236 yards in the first two weeks of the regular season. This includes 179 yards in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. However, his production saw a drop in the following weeks. Edelman had 79 receiving yards in his next four games before hitting the injury report.

“I know he’s working extremely hard and I would certainly never count Julian out of anything,” Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said when media members asked if he expected the wideout to return this season. “He’s got a tremendous will and work ethic and very competitive. Football is very important to him, so it would take a lot for me to count him out, put it that way.”

Edelman has several problems to take care of right now. He was dealing with a knee injury and then had to end up on the reserve/COVID-19 list. The Patriots placed him on this list, and we don’t know anything about the situation. Is Edelman infected with the virus? Was he in close contact with an infected person? Let’s see how will things go for the Patriots and their veteran in the next few weeks.
