Report: Patriots QBs Coach Interviews For Arizona Job

The New England Patriots may be left with a big void following the most recent events. According to recent reports, Patriots QBs coach may leave New England to get an Arizona job.

Quarterbacks coach Jedd Fisch is in his first year with the Patriots. He had his first interview Monday for the head-coaching gig at Arizona. The spot is open and Fisch may get the job. Jason Scheer of WildcatAuthority.Com confirmed the information.

Arizona is now looking for another head coach. They fired Kevin Sumlin earlier this month after going 0-5 in the Pac-12 season.

Fisch was a college head coach in 2017. He was UCLA’s offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach. Fisch has spent some time at Michigan, Miami, Minnesota, and Florida. The New England Patriots are his seventh NFL team.

In 2020, Fisch worked with veteran quarterback Cam Newton. The 2015 NFL MVP praised his work. Patriots passing offense had a lot of struggles this season. The group ranks 30th in the NFL in 15 games.

Patriots QBs coach may not be the only coach to leave New England

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has seen offers from many organizations in the past. He may receive interest from NFL teams again. There are several empty spots right now, and McDaniels has always been intrigued by the head coaching position in the league. The Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons, and Detroit Lions need a head coach right now. The list will grow even bigger in the next few weeks. NFL teams tend to make change at head coach at the end of every bad season. McDaniels has been in similar position in the past few seasons, but head coach Bill Belichick didn’t give up on him. The Patriots head coach did his best to keep McDaniels in the organization. He is too valuable for the Patriots, and they wouldn’t let him go that easily.

2020 was a bad season for the Patriots organization, and they will probably make some changes. The coaching staff is expected to see some changes and the same applies to the current roster. Coach Belichick is already thinking of several options, and one of them includes the starting quarterback.
