Deshaun Watson to Patriots Trade Discussed

Deshaun Watson may be making his way to the New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick. Watson has been unhappy with the Houston Texans. This has triggered an avalanche of reactions, and it seems like everyone has come up with their own wild scenario. Eric Rueb from the Providence Journal has something to say about Watson’s situation.

Rueb suggests that the Patriots trade for Watson. That’s not all. He also recommends that the Patriots include Belichick in the deal.

Deshaun Watson to join the Patriots

This is probably the craziest hypothetical concept of everything we’ve heard about lately.

“Should the Patriots do it? Yes. The answer is yes. In fact, you can make a case that every NFL team other than Kansas City, Buffalo, and Baltimore should do whatever possible to try and acquire Watson, who will be 26 years old at the start of next season. So how does trading for a starting QB not even at their prime happen? It would start with draft capital. Like an absurd amount.

“We’re talking multiple first- and second-round picks over the next few years, the kind of picks where Houston could get Vontae Mack and Ray Jennings and have more than enough to rebuild the franchise the next few years. That’s a problem for New England because a) it doesn’t have that type of capital, and b)Belichick loves draft capital more than he loves talking lacrosse or left-footed punters. It seems unlikely that he would be willing to mortgage everything for one player, even if that one player is DeShaun Watson. So what if Bob Kraft solved that issue by trading Belichick?”

This is definitely not a joke. Rueb is serious. Really serious. According to his story, Patriots owner Robert Kraft is fed up with the head coach and the way he made Tom Brady go. We all know that Kraft has traded for a head coach. Belichick joined the Patriots as a successor for Bill Parcells. He can easily trade his current coach away. Rueb is pretty positive about this scenario.

If the Patriots want Watson, they will have to add more to their offer.
