Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Gives Update on His Latest Injury

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope suffered an injury at the beginning of the new year. The Los Angeles Lakers veteran gave fans a scare, and now he provides an update for everyone.

KCP was a bit worried about his ankle. The Lakers need his veteran skills on the floor.

“I knew my energy wasn’t there in the first half and in the second half I tried to change that and came out with great energy, scored eight points,” Caldwell-Pope said right after he suffered the injury. “And to go down like that, I was kind of upset. I was starting to warm up, get loose, get into the game flow and then that happened. Fortunately (the X-rays are) negative, thanks for that, but I was a little upset that I didn’t get a chance to finish the game.”

On Monday, the Lakers guard offered another promising update about his return to the floor. Los Angeles plays against the Memphis Grizzlies Tuesday night.

“Ankle is feeling great. I practiced today, got a little movement in. Still not 100%, but hopefully I’ll be able to go tomorrow. Depends how I feel.”

KCP injured his ankle in the third quarter of Friday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. He sat out Sunday’s match against the Grizzlies. Kyle Kuzma stepped in as a replacement. LA needed a nice surge to finish the game with a win.

The 27-year-old is at the beginning of his fourth season with the Lakers. KCP started each of the Lakers’ first six games. There were several rumors about his departure from LA. However, Caldwell-Pope signed a multi-year deal and stayed with the Lakers.

Los Angeles has a 5-2 record in the regular season. Players need to win more games this season. They are going after another title, right?
