Report: 3-Time Pro-Bowl QB Would Cost Patriots 2 First-Round Picks

The New England Patriots will have to make a good offer to get the right quarterback for their team. Head coach Bill Belichick will have to give up on several players and draft picks to get his next franchise quarterback. According to recent sources, the Patriots may go after one particular QB.

Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal wrote an article on about a trade package including Derek Carr. The Las Vegas Raiders may trade Carr to get the assets to sign Deshaun Watson. What’s the asking price?

“It could get to two first-round picks,” Bonsignore wrote. “He’s not [Matthew] Stafford, but he’s younger and he has a fair contract, so I could see two number ones.”

In 2016, Carr was on his way to the top. He was able to lead the Raiders to a 12-3 record and started 15 games while throwing for 3,987 yards, 28 touchdowns and six interceptions. The Raiders offensive players wanted to keep Carr clean that year and the quarterback was sacked a league-low 2.8% of his dropbacks.

Patriots to get a veteran QB

Carr turned outt o be a good passer. He threw for more than 4,000 yafrds in each of the last years. But, his stats did not turn into many victories. The Raiders had a 19-29 record during that period. Some said that Carr and head coach Jon Gruden didn’t really match sides throughout the entire period.

The quarterback will turn 30 in March. He has a few great seasons in his hands. The Patriots will try to move on from veteran Cam Newton and maybe Carr is a good option for the team.

Will Belichick see Carr as a quarterback worthy of missing two first-round picks?

Belichick wanted to trade for Matthew Stafford. He offered a current player from the roster and a second-round pick. The Raiders would ask for much more than that.

New England needs to solve the quarterback situation this offseason. They need to bring great receivers and tight ends. Finding a franchise quarterback is a priority at the moment. Will Carr join the Patriots in the upcoming period?
