Patriots Doing ‘Lot Of Homework’ On This QB Prospect

The New England Patriots need to find their quarterback of the future, and head coach Bill Belichick is looking for his next target. The team has been linked with at least one QB prospect. We have every right to believe that Belichick will make the right decision and sign the players his team needs.

According to recent sources, the Patriots really like Florida quarterback Kyle Trask. The 2021 NFL Draft is already here.

NFL Media draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah talked about this during Friday’s “Move the Sticks” podcast. He said there was “a little buzz in league circles that the Patriots are doing a lot of homework on Kyle Trask.”

Trask joins the second tier of quarterback prospects in the 2021 draft. Texas A&M’s Kellen Mond and Stanford’s Davis Mills belong to the same group. The talented player may be a Day 2 option for New England if Belichick misses out on Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, and Mac Jones.

Patriots to get the best QB prospect

In a Patriots mock draft session, Jeremiah and co-host Bucky Brooks suggested that the Patriots will get Trask in the third round with their 96^th overall selection.

Trask was a two-year starter for the Gators. He was amazing in 2020 and his production impressed a lot of experts. He led the FBS in passing yards (4,283) and touchdown passes (43). Trask also completed 68.9 percent of his passes and threw eight interceptions. Scouting reports praised Trask’s size as he measured at 6-foot-5, 236 pounds. His arm talent is also impressive and he has nice composure and character. There’s just one problem. Trask is dealing with a lack of mobility.

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels scouted the quarterback in person last month. He attended his pro day and it was amazing.

Belichick offered Cam Newton a one-year deal but he is not the Patriots’ quarterback of the future. The team has to pick the right option. Belichick can add a young quarterback and put him behind Newton. In this way, the rookie will be able to learn under Newton for an entire year.
