Lakers Superstar Is Changing Jersey Number Ahead of Next Season

The Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the first round of the NBA playoffs. They lost to the Phoenix Suns. According to many experts, the Lakers will rebuild the roster. Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka is set to make some major changes. When it comes to one Lakers superstar, he will be changing his jersey number in the offseason. Sort of.

LeBron James will be super busy in the offseason. He is looking forward to the release of Space Jam: A New Legacy. King James is committed to the project. Oh, yes, he is even changing his jersey number. The Athletic has more information:

“Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is changing his jersey number to No. 6 from No. 23 next season, sources tell The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Tim Cato. Anthony Davis is expected to keep No. 3.

“The change is expected to come after “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” which will be released next month. In the movie, the 17-time NBA All-Star teams up with Bugs Bunny in a sequel to “Space Jam” starring Michael Jordan.”

The Lakers superstar is changing his jersey number for a reason

The kid from Akron will change his number from 23 because Michael Jordan is wearing this number and he was the star of the first movie. It’s more than obvious that LeBron wouldn’t wear the same number. He had No.6 with the Miami Heat and he is probably used to this. There was huge speculation suggesting that King James would change the number when Anthony Davis joined the Lakers. He had No. 23 with the New Orleans Pelicans. He is not changing his jersey in the near future.

LeBron is really hyped up about the release of Space Jam. Let’s see how will fans accept it.

“I think I’m gonna play for the Tune Squad this summer instead of the Olympics,” LeBron said after the Lakers’ playoff loss. “We’re gonna gear up to beat the MonStars, or the Goon Squad I guess they’re called now.”
