Patriots Urged to Include Jarrett Stidham in Major Trade

The New England Patriots look really good now and they are ready for the next chapter. The team missed the playoffs in 2020 and players were disappointed. It was the very first Tom Brady-less season for the team and it was a failure. New England finished the season with a 7-9 record. Cam Newton was leading the team and he will probably do the same in 2021. Head coach Bill Belichick offered him another deal and Brian Hoyer signed his deal, too. The Patriots selected Mac Jones in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. This leads us all the way to Jarrett Stidham and his major trade deal.

NBC Sports Boston’s Tom E. Curran believes that the Patriots should go after Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones and outbid their competition. According to him, the team should add Stidham to the trade deal.

Curran went on WEEI’s Gresh and Keefe to talk about several scenarios.

“Stidham is a pretty good trade chip. And as we look, today is June 1, this is the opportunity right now for Atlanta to split up Julio Jones’ damage and move him as we all know. Jarrett Stidham wouldn’t be a horrendous chip to throw in along with that second-round pick.”

Jarrett Stidham is a good option for Belichick’s major trade deal

The Patriots selected Stidham in the fourth-round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He was supposed to replace TB12.

Interestingly, Brady’s throwing coach Tom House has great words for Stidham. He talked about the young quarterback during an appearance on the NBC Sports podcast.

“His mechanics are pretty solid, and I’m sure that the decision-makers with the organization recognize that,” said House. “He also looks like he has the mental capacity to handle it. Physically, I think he’s going to be fine. What he needs right now is just snaps under pressure. Just to see if he can compete. But as far as mechanics are concerned, he’s as good as there is out there.”
