Cam Newton Reveals His True Thoughts On Mac Jones Pick

The New England Patriots have four quarterbacks on the roster. Head coach Bill Belichick offered Cam Newton a one year deal, but he also selected Mac Jones in the first round of the NFL Draft. What does that mean? Well, Newton doesn’t even think about the fact that Jones may steal his job this season.

Truth is, the Patriots have a big “issue” in the quarterback room at the moment.

Newton returns after a disappointing season with the team. He promised to improve his game and Josh McDaniels noticed his improvement.

Some say Newton doesn’t like rookie, but he has nothing but respect for Jones. Yes, he really likes “Mac and Cheese.”

Cam Newton likes Mac Jones

The 2015 NFL MVP went on Keyshawn, JWill and Zubin Thursday. He doubled down on his great thoughts for jones. According to Newton, Jones is the “right pick” for the Patriots in the 2021 NFL Draft.

“I mean, you know, come on man, let’s be honest, I’ve been playing this game long enough to know, like that’s the right pick,” he said. “And I’ve said it numerous, numerous times that, you know what you’re not going to get out of me is a disgruntled person. You know, ‘Mac and Cheese’ is a person who has ever since I’ve seen him….came on into the locker room with a business approach, you know, doing the initiatives of learning his teammates, understanding that, you know, I got to raise my level of play, you know from the collegiate level to the professional level and I’m here for him. As well as he’s here for me, just like [Jarrett] Stidham and Brian Hoyer… it’s no different.

“Our job is to be the best player that we could possibly be for the New England Patriots. No matter what is asked of us, it’s our job to be that. So that’s what it pretty much comes down to, so, when Mac was picked, you know, there was no type of ill will….Because, competition brings out the best in everybody.”

Many would agree that 2020 was disappointing for Newton. He threw for 368 yards, eight touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. The Patriots finished the season with a 7-9 record.

Newton promised to do great things with the team. Let’s see what happens next in Foxboro.
