Gunner Olszewski Offers Midsummer Review Of Patriots QB Mac Jones

NFL fans would “die” for a good review on Mac Jones. The New England Patriots selected him with the 15th overall and yes, everyone has high expectations for him. Will the rookie meet these expectations?

Head coach Bill Belichick likes Jones. He isn’t the only member of the Patriots organization to praise the first-rounder.

Belichick and Patriots are not just polite. They really like the rookie. According to recent reports, the Patriots are super impressed with Jones. Those who have worked with him in the summer really like what they have seen from the young player.

Gunner Olszewski belongs to this list. The talented receiver drove a pace car in the NASCAR Cup Series race at New Hampshire Speedway. He talked about his younger teammate.

A good review on Mac Jones

If you ask Olszewski, he will say that Jones is a “smart guy.” He believes that the rookie is a smart football player, adding that the Patriots had a few good reasons to bring him in. Of course, Olszewski is not the one who makes decisions, but he definitely likes this one.

“Good, smart guy,” Olszewski, an All-Pro punt returner last season, told NESN.com on Sunday. “Smart football player. I see why we took him. Those aren’t the decisions I make, but I think it was a good one.

“He’s a fun guy to be around and I think he’s a good football player.”

Jones and the Patriots signed a four-year rookie contract with the regular fifth-year option. It looks like Jones and Cam Newton will take part in a real quarterback competition in training camp.

Olszewski is trying to earn his spot on the Patriots roster for the third straight year. He is an player and Belichick may consider giving him a better role next season.

Belichick will make a few big moves in the offseason. Getting the right signal caller for his team seems like a priority right now.
