Kobe Bryant Last Words About Westbrook Might Brought Him To Lakers

Kobe Bryant surprised everyone with his last words about Russell Westbrook. Why is this even a topic now? Well, Westbrook has just joined the Los Angeles Lakers.

LA acquired him through a trade deal with the Washington Wizards. General manager Rob Pelinka added Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and the No.22 pick of the 2021 NBA Draft to the trade package. He will get Westbrook and a couple of second-round picks.

Let’s go back to Kobe. A handful of players can match his competitiveness. Kobe was the most competitive player on this planet and this helped him win five rings with the Lakers. The Black Mamba was all-in when it comes to winning games and he took the Lakers to the top in almost every season.

This is the connection between Kobe and Westbrook. The newly-added Lakers veteran seems to follow Kobe’s footsteps. Many would agree that he is one of the most fierce players in the NBA.

Kobe Bryant was right about his last comments on RW, and the NBA will remember his words

Kobe took notice of Westbrook’s demeanor. In his interview with Jim Rome of CBS Sports, Kobe said Wesbtrook was the player who reminds him most of himself.

The Black Mamba said Westbrook is the player who does things with “the same kind of emotion and grit and competitive intensity.” According to Kobe, Russell is going hard and goes 110 percent every time he hits the basketball court.

Kobe died over a year ago. Westbrook had a hard time accepting the tragedy. He uses Kobe’s success as a motivation to win. In one of his on-court postgame interview, Westbrook promised to go out and compete at the highest level. He promised to play his best basketball every time he hits the court. The Lakers veteran promised to do this in his honor.

Similar to other players, Westbrook had great respect for Kobe. He first met him at 15 during a pickup basketball game. He tried really hard to emulate Kobe’s renowned “Mamba mentality” and their relationship became really strong. They were great friends.
