Patriots Wide Receiver Shares Initial Reaction To Mac Jones

What was your initial reaction to the selection of Mac Jones? Head coach Bill Belichick got the rookie with the 15th overall, and the young player is the perfect threat for Cam Newton.

Of course, Jones will have to make everyone believe he is the right signal-caller to lead the Patriots. Guess what… He is off to an excellent start.

The New England Patriots took advantage of Jones’ NFL Draft slide by getting him with the 15th overall selection. Many believe he will be their franchise quarterback. The rookie will have to beat out Newton.

The first thing on his list? Training camp!

Jones will have to make a big impression at training camp.

A good initial reaction to Mac Jones

The good news? He has a good reputation heading into upcoming practices. Patriots wide receiver and punt returner Gunner Olszewski has words of praise for his teammate.

Olszewski had the opportunity to work with Jones and he really likes his new teammate.

According to the talented player, Jones is a smart guy who plays great football. He believes Belichick had a really good reason to get him. It was one of the best decisions the Patriots have made in the last few years. Olszewski believes that Jones is a fun guy to work with. Moreover, he believes Olszewski is a good football player.

“Good, smart guy,” Olszewski said. “Smart football player. I see why we took him. Those aren’t the decisions I make, but I think it was a good one. He’s a fun guy to be around and I think he’s a good football player.”

Jones can do two things to convince Belichick to put him under center.

First, he should avoid turnovers. Second? Jones has to drive the ball down the field in the passing game. The 2015 NFL MVP struggled with this part of the game last season.

If Jones does this in training camp, he will motivate Belichick to give him a better role. Let’s see what happens in training camp. A lot of things can change overnight.
