Former Patriots Executive Counters Alex Guerrero’s Claim About Bill Belichick

A former Patriots executive has countered Alex Guerrero’s claim that he made about Bill Belichick. The Patriots are set to take on the Saints today. They are coming off a big win against the Jets. The Jets are a bad team this season. But the Patriots defense was able to hold them to just 6 points and picked off their rookie QB 4 times total. But that was not necessarily the biggest news of the week.

Alex Guerrero recently came out with some interesting things to say about Bill Belichick. Now, a former exec for the Patriots, Michael Lombardi, has countered that.

“I didn’t understand what Alex was talking about because we spent a lot of time bringing people in to talk about how to deal with millennials and how to bridge the generational gap with Tom as he was getting older to some of the younger players on the team,” Lombardi said on “Merloni & Fauria”. “How do we bridge that gap? I know Coach Belichick spent a lot of time in the 2015 offseason on that.

“So I’m not sure what Alex is talking about. I mean, Alex was allowed to come in the building and work his craft and build his business up in that building, when a lot of people were not really of the ilk to believe that what he was doing was in compliance with what the training staff was doing. So I don’t understand why people talk like they do, because sometimes they don’t make sense to me. They have very short memories about what actually happened.”

Belichick himself was not as interested in talking about the comments.

“I appreciate the question,” Belichick said during a Zoom call. “I know there’s a lot of interest for obvious reasons in next week’s game. But we’re focused on the Saints here, and Monday we’ll get to next week.”

The Patriots are taking on the Saints and better be ready on both sides of the ball. Mac Jones, the Patriots rookie QB, will have to be on the top of his game.
