Report: Jets Will Be Without Key Player For Week 2 Patriots Game

The New England Patriots will play against the New York Jets this week. They missed the chance to win the season opener against the Miami Dolphins. Will Week 2 be much better for the Patriots? Things got a little easier for Bill Belichick and his team. The Jets will be without one of their star players.

Left tackle Mekhi Becton will stay on the sidelines for at least four weeks. He may miss even more time due to a dislocated right knee cap.

Jets coach Robert Saleh said that the 2020 first-round draft selection will also get a second opinion to determine whether his condition requires a surgery. Adam Schefter from ESPN reported that Becton will probably get arthroscopic surgery to fix his cartilage damage.

Week 2 is easier for the Patriots

Rookie quarterback Zach Wilson will play the next few games without his top protector. Saleh is still an optimist though. His team has three legitimate starting tackles and his players may not struggle too much. Well, we have at least one good reason to believe that Bill Belichick will take advantage over Becton’s absence.

Becton is out and Fant will probably go at left tackle. Moses started the season on the bench but he will now be a starter on the right side. He had 96 straight starts with the Washington Football Team and this streak was snapped last night.

This is not the only problem New York has at the moment. They lost two starters on defense. Free safety Lamarcus Joyner is out due to a torn triceps. He will undergo a surgery and the team won’t have him back in 2021. Rookie middle linebacker Jamien Sherwood is out due to a sprained ankle. He will have to miss two weeks.

Becton sustained his injury in the third quarter of the game. Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Daviyon Nixon rolled up the back of Becton’s right leg. He had to be carted to the locker room.

The Patriots don’t have any serious injuries on the roster at the moment. Let’s hope that this won’t change in the next few days.
