Mac Jones Insists On Taking Undue Blame For Patriots Strip-Sack

The New England Patriots lost the game to the Dallas Cowboys. Everyone did an incredible job, but the team made a few mistakes and their opponent took advantage of this. Mac Jones is someone who’d take the blame for each and every mistake last night. That’s exactly what he did. The first-rounder has been in the NFL for a few months and he knows the system really well. The strip-sack? Jones took the blame for it.

“I just turned around and looked at my reads, and he had a jump on the snap count,” the rookie said during his appearance on WEEI’s “Merloni & Fauria.” “It was just unfortunate because it was almost like he timed up my cadence. I think that’s something I can address and work on, just so we have a little bit of a changeup. He was there, and I wish I would have held onto the ball. It’s just one of those bang-bang plays, and those happen all the time.”

Mac Jones took the blame for a reason

Bill Belichick’s first-round pick took the blame for this particular mistake. Maybe his team should have taken advantage of the situation. They didn’t and Dallas players did what they had to do.

“I could have got the ball out quicker, and that’s on me,” Jones said. “I’ll watch the film and figure out ways I can, A) get the ball out quicker or figure out ways to get it out or change the play or whatever. I’ll talk about that with the offense and find ways to where if I know it’s a look that we don’t want, how we can change it or whatever. But it’s part of the game, and I don’t think that hit — of course it hurts, but you’ve just got to get up and play the next play. It’s part of football, and that’s the fun part.”

The Patriots did great job on both ends of the game. The offense elevated the game, and the defense was fire throughout the game. What happens next?

New England has a few injured players on the injury report, and this may be a problem for the coaching staff. However, Belichick has a solution to this issue.
