LeBron James Once Unabashedly Put Another NBA Legend in the GOAT Conversation

LeBron James is definitely in the conversation of being the GOAT. In fact, most fans of the NBA and basketball, in general, would put LeBron James and Michael Jordan as the two front runners of this honor. And that makes pretty good sense. James has been amazing throughout his career and it is clear that he should be easily in the conversation as being the best to ever do it.

But other than those two, who else is in the conversation? Well, according to LeBron James, Allen Iverson should be in there as well. He said that he was one of the best players to ever do it back in 2013.

Allen Iverson was definitely an impressive player during his time in the NBA. It was sad to see his career end as it did but that doesn’t take away from what he did on the court. He famously crossed Michael Jordan one time which is one for the highlight reels.

It sounds like LeBron was a huge fan of AI back in the day.

“I watch Jordan more than anybody for sure,” James said back in 2013. “But I’ll watch tapes of A.I., too. I don’t take anything from A.I.. Well, I do — his will. They say he was 6 feet, but A.I. was like 5-10½. Do we even want to say 160? 170 [pounds]? Do we even want to give him that much weight? And he played like a 6-8 2-guard. He was one of the greatest finishers we’ve ever seen. You could never question his heart. Ever. He gave it his all. A.I. was like my second-favorite player growing up, after MJ.”

“[Iverson] reminds me of Floyd Mayweather,” James said, comparing AI to a short boxer. “You could never question [Iverson’s] heart, his will to want to win. A true warrior.”

“I hate the fact that his career ended the way it did,” James said previously. “But he had an unbelievable career.”

It is always cool to hear about current NBA players’ favorite past players. And the GOAT debate is not going to end any time soon.
