Patriots Sign Defensive Lineman With Titans Ties To Practice Squad

The Patriots now sign a defensive lineman with Titans ties to their practice squad. The Patriots are going into week 12 of the NFL season looking like one of the best teams in the NFL, at least defensively. But the offense has not looked too bad either and are making the strides that they need to in order to be where they need to to make the playoffs. It has been clear from the start that this will be a building year. But they are now making a push to win their division.

They have not made a move in order to sign a new defensive lineman with ties to the Titans to the practice squad.

Just before their Sunday matchup with the Titans, the Patriots picked up a 6-foot-2, 320-pound defensive linemen Niles Scott. He was recently cut from the Titans practice squad which opened the doors for the Patriots to pick him up.

Scott has not stayed in one place for long during his time in the NFL. He has bounced around quite a bit and has not had any real playing time in the NFL.

He has also spent time with San Francisco, Denver, Buffalo and Las Vegas, and is coming with fellow D-linemen Daniel Ekuale and Bill Murray on New England’s practice squad.

The Patriot’s defense is pretty good as is. Bill Belichick recently talked about his defense and what they have done so far this season.

“I’d like for our identity to be winning. What we need to do, we went up to Minnesota against the number one defense in the league, got in empty, and threw the ball all day. We played against Pittsburgh in the opener in whatever year that was, ’02, lined up in empty, and threw the ball all day. Sometimes you’ve got to do things that you feel like you need to do to win.”

“Hopefully, you have the team, ability, and enough breadth in your offense or defense or special teams to be able to do what you need to do in order to be able to handle what your opponents do well or what you need to do to stop them. I think that’s really the part of it that it’s hard to just go out there and run the same play all day in this league and be successful.”
