Dante Scarnecchia Salutes Patriots For Mac Jones Development

Mac Jones has an army of supporters and Mike Lombardi is definitely one of them. Stephen A. Smith would love to see the rookie and the New England Patriots beat the Dallas Cowboys in the Super Bowl this season. Former Patriots offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia has nothing but great words for Mac Jones and his development.

The Patriots used the first round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft to get the rookie. He wasn’t the top pick in the NFL but he has better performance than any other rookie in the class. Jones built strong relationship with his teammates and took the team to a 9-4 record. The Patriots are coming off of a good win over the Buffalo Bills. We all know what does that mean. They are dominant force in the division.

Scarnecchia praised Jones’ development and the great work Patriots coaches did.

“I think they’ve done a magnificent job of bringing this kid along,” Scarnecchia recently said on NBC Sports Boston’s “Next Pats” podcast. “I think that, number one, of all the quarterbacks in the draft — and I’m not saying this guy’s this or this guy’s that — this guy was a perfect system fit for them. The perfect system fit. To bring him along the way that they’ve brought him along, I think they’ve done a superior job of coaching this guy.”

Josh McDaniels supports Mac Jones and his development

Cam Newton struggled to fit in Josh McDaniels’ offense, but Jones the perfect fit.

“When you watch the Patriot games, and after every offensive series they go to the bench, tell me what you see,” he said. “The guy calling the plays is sitting next to the guy who on the field is calling the plays and has the toughest job in all of sports, and they spend a tremendous amount of time together when he’s not on the field. They spend all their time together.

“I think Josh has done a magnificent job with him and I think to Mac’s credit, he’s embraced it. He’s a cerebral guy, he’s not emotionally a way-too-high, way-too-low guy. I think the key to their success has been the marriage between those two guys and integration of those two guys on the sideline. I think they’ve done a tremendous job.”
