Russell Westbrook Acknowledges he Needs to Make a Huge ‘Sacrifice’ For The Lakers to be Successful

The Los Angeles Lakers are dealing with a lot of difficulties at the moment. Players sustained many injuries and also got COVID. Anthony Davis is still out. The front office is already looking for ways to trade some of the tradable assets. What about the bigger names on the roster? Who is the first player to leave the team? LeBron James won’t go anywhere. Anthony Davis got his contract extension, but some say the front office should get rid of him. Russell Westbrook will have to sacrifice a few things as well.

The Lakers entered the regular season with great plans. However, injuries plagued the team and Pelinka had to make some moves. LA has a 21-21 record at this point of the season.

Russell Westbrook to make a big sacrifice

Broddie joined the Lakers to make things easier for everyone, but he struggles a lot. In his convo with Sam Amick from The Athletic, Westbrook talked about the “biggest sacrifice” he is about to make to make things work in LA.

“We’re all trying to figure it out as a team, as a unit, to be able to say, ‘Ok, how can we figure this out?’” Westbrook said. “And I know I’m the one who has got to make the biggest sacrifice — and I understand that — so I’ve got to be able to figure out a way to be able to make the best out of it and make the best for this team and that’s it.”

Westbrook is averaging 18.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game while shooting 43.7 percent from the field and 28.8 percent from beyond the arc. He can do better than that.

“Trying to figure it out,” Westbrook said. “I mean, we still don’t have the answer. We done changed the way we play a couple times (laughs). Just for me, it’s trying to figure out the best way to be able to implement how I play the game with this team.”

We have to wait and see what happens next in LA. Players have to work really hard to make things work.
