Former New York Jets and Miami Dolphins Head Coach Eyed as Possible Josh McDaniels Successor

Josh McDaniels was hired as the new head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders and the New England Patriots have to find his successor. NFL analysts mentioned a few names, and Adam Gase is one of them. McDaniels had a key role with the team and replacing him will be quite a challenge. This is definitely the biggest priority for the Patriots nation. Head coach Bill Belichick has to find the best replacement for his offensive coordinator.

Gase can be of great help for the Patriots offense and he may be a better fit than Bill O’Brien. NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry believes that Belichick could really entertain the idea of giving Gase the keys to his offense. The former New York Jets and Miami Dolphins head coach is a good option for any team, including Belichick’s squad.

“If it doesn?t happen, was told recently to keep an eye on Adam Gase. Bill Belichick is a fan of Gase, spoke of him glowingly back in ’20 ahead of Pats-Jets. Saban connection there,” Perry tweeted. “Gase worked for Saban at LSU. Worked for McDaniels in Denver.”

Is Adam Gase the right Josh McDaniels successor?

Of course, Gase is an excellent assistant. He could be a good offensive coordinator or position coach in New England. He had some struggles during his head coaching job, but hey, the Patriots don’t need a head coach. They have a legend running the team. What they do need is an offensive mastermind. This makes Gase a good candidate.

Will Gase get an opportunity to work with rookie quarterback Mac Jones? McDaniels did a wonderful job with the first rounder. Jones led the Patriots to a seven-game winning streak in 2021. He did a better job than any other rookie quarterback in the class.

Belichick will be really busy in the offseason. His offseason started a little too early. The Patriots will have to upgrade the roster and handle some of the expiring contracts. Several veterans will enter the open market this spring. Yes, Belichick will be really busy these days.
