Report: How Much Josh McDaniels’ Full-Page Ad Cost

Josh McDaniels waived his last “goodbye” in a big ad, and now we know the cost of it. The former offensive coordinator left the New England Patriots in a lengthy letter released in Boston Globe. He left the team to join the Las Vegas Raiders as their head coach.

McDaniels decided to spend some cash to thank the Patriots for everything they did in the past decade. He had great success as an offensive coordinator in New England and he sure helped Mac Jones unleash his full potential. The Patriots offense destroyed teams for years, and McDaniels had a big say in the process. He and Tom Brady worked really well together, and many thought McDaniels would have similar relationship with Jones. All the good things come to an end and the rookie will have to work with another offensive coordinator.

Josh McDaniels says goodbye in long ad, Mike Reiss has info on the cost

Mike Reiss from ESPN has details of McDaniels’ goodbye message for the Patriots nation.

“Josh McDaniels penned a classy, thoughtful thank-you note to Patriots fans in Wednesday’s Boston Globe,” he wrote in his Sunday column. “That he chose the Globe to do so, and not social media, wasn’t an accident. McDaniels might be just 45, but he’s an old soul in that regard. I called the Globe advertising department to try to get a better feel for how much an ad like that may cost, and was told by one representative a ballpark of $20,000.

McDaniels led the Patriots to six Super Bowls. He really wanted to coach his own team. Now he has a chance to do something about it. McDaniels had a lot of interviews in the past few years, but he didn’t receive many offers this year. I guess he really wanted the job in Las Vegas. It was the only interview McDaniels had this offseason. Several sources reported that he was pretty sure about the job.

How will New England handle the loss? They lost a valuable contributor. Bill O’Brien was the first option, but Dante Scarnecchia would bet on Nick Caley.
