Report: LeBron James Wanted Blockbuster Trade To Happen

Rich Paul said that Klutch Sports is not in a cold war with the Los Angeles Lakers. Numerous reports suggested that the agency tried to force Rob Pelinka to pull out a big trade ahead of the deadline. Well, Eric Pincus from Bleacher Report says that LeBron James was actually a fan of this blockbuster trade.

According to Pincus’ report, LeBron wanted the Lakers to trade Russell Westbrook for John Wall. Here’s a fun fact. Wall is a Klutch Sports client. LeBron was among the first to approve Westbrook’s arrival in LA. The front office traded Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Montrezl Harrell to get Broddie. The experiment didn’t work and some fans want him out.

LeBron James didn’t push the blockbuster trade after all

Pincus reported that LeBron wasn’t really happy when the Lakers refused to get rid of the players they got early in the season.

“The sentiment has long percolated, but it reached a boil when Pelinka refused to trade (Russell) Westbrook and a future first-round pick (likely 2027) for Houston Rockets guard and Klutch client John Wall,” wrote Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

“The move didn’t make sense for the Lakers from a basketball standpoint as a significant upgrade over Westbrook, even though Wall averaged 20.6 points and 6.9 assists per game last year. Wall hasn’t played this season, with the Rockets focusing on developing younger players. From the Klutch point of view, the Lakers would get their client out of a bad situation in Houston and undo the Westbrook mistake.”

Houston wanted Westbrook and a first-rounder. Rob Pelinka needs the first round pick to reshape his roster, and he turned down the offer. The Rockets don’t like Wall and they also don’t like Westbrook, but they had easier plans for the latter. Wall is young and he could have been a good fit for Frank Vogel’s roster.

When it comes to roster, his future with the Lakers has been the main topic these days. The four-time NBA champion plans to join the team that gets his son in the NBA Draft. We have people who talk about his return to Cleveland as well. Let’s just say the situation is a bit complicated.
