Scenario Sees Patriots Sign Ex-Pro Bowl WR From AFC Rival

The New England Patriots have to make a few much-needed moves this offeason. One proposal suggests that the Patriots sign a WR for the win. Yes, they really need a superstar to lead the team. Wide receiver Julian Edelman is no longer part of the team and head coach Bill Belichick could really look for someone who can match his potential. Is that even possible?

N’Keal Harry struggles to make an impact and most analysts believe that he will leave the team sooner than expected. Jakobi Meyers, Nelson Agholor, and Kendrick Bourne make perfect sense, but Belichick needs more than that.

Patriots to sign a talented WR to a one-year deal

Arjun Menon of Pro Football Focus bets on Juju Smith-Schuster. According to him, the talented wide receiver will join the Patriots through a one-year deal.

“Smith-Schuster turned down a multi-year deal with the Chiefs last offseason then proceeded to get injured early in the 2021 season,” says Menon. “Thus, it’ll probably be tough for him to get a multi-year deal on the market for the value he wants. He’s still only 25 years old and has logged five years in the league, so he will still be an attractive option for WR needy teams.

“One of those teams should be the Patriots, who need to get Mac Jones more weapons. Smith-Schuster can serve as a reliable receiver out of the slot for New England.”

Meyers is one of the best receivers on the Patriots roster. He hit 83 receptions for 866 yards and a couple of touchdowns. Pro Football Focus suggests that Meyers had a 74.7 offensive grade which is the 32nd highest of any other wide receiver in the NFL. Oh, yes, he did better than other receivers on Belichick’s roster.

Juju is not at his best, but he will definitely be of great help for the Patriots.

Belichick has a few options on his table, and one of them would probably be getting rid of Harry. NFL analysts believe that the wide receiver needs “a change in scenery.” Well, that’s a whole different topic, right?
