Patriots Reportedly Bringing Back Longtime Franchise Star

The New England Patriots lost a few valuable players in the last few years, but they are definitely bringing a franchise star back to the roster. Head coach Bill Belichick will work with a different roster in the upcoming season. The coaching staff will be different, too.

Several reports confirmed that the team agreed to sign Matthew Slater to a contract. Fans are really excited about this. Belichick trusts great veterans and Slater is definitely one of them. Adding Slater to the roster is always a good idea. The Pro Bowler will have a key role in the upcoming season.

“The Patriots are expected to reach a new deal with 10X Pro Bowl special teamer Matthew Slater, per source. Another year for the heart and soul of their roster,” reports NFL insider Field Yates.

According to Yates, Slater will get a one-year deal worth $2.62 million.

Patriots are bringing the franchise star to build strong leadership

Slater is a legend and Belichick needs every bit of his talent in 2022. Fans will enjoy watching games because Slater makes everything better. He is a true leader and has great connection with his teammates.

“What a legend. Glad to see him get a new deal,” one fan tweeted.

“The captain is back in New England. It will be Slater’s 15th season with the #Patriots,” a fan commented.

“Pumped to see Matthew Slater back with the @Patriots a class act all around,” one fan said.

The Patriots entered the offseason a little too early this year. They will try to get all the players Belichick needs to make the playoffs. The team suffered a wild-card loss to the Buffalo Bills. Mac Jones is an excellent player, but he really needs strong weapons. The Patriots will probably sign receivers, linebackers, and cornerbacks. Kyle Van Noy left the tea, and we have a good reason to believe that other free agents will leave the Pats in free agency. Slater is back and so is Devin McCourty. Who is the next player to strike a deal with the team?
