Lakers Urged to Get Legendary Coach Out of Retirement to Aid LeBron James

The Los Angeles Lakers got rid of Frank Vogel in the very first wave of changes. The head coach led the team to a title win two years ago. However, his time with the Lakers was brought to an end. The last two seasons were terrible and the Lakers failed to make an impact. The Lakers may soon try to get one particular coach out of his retirement.

Lakers icon Lamar Odom had an interview with TMZ and talked about the current situation in LA. According to him, Phil Jackson is the right person to replace Vogel. Odom is convinced that Jackson’s role with the Lakers could help LeBron stay with the team a little longer.

“Phil Jackson, I know can coach LeBron with the triangle offense. I think that would keep LeBron around a little longer,” Odom said. “Preserve him a little longer. I would love for Phil Jackson to be the coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.”

Lakers to get champion coach out of his retirement

Jackson, 76, is one of the best coaches the NBA has ever seen. He had great success with the team. Jackson led the Lakers to four trophies. Will he have the same success with the team?

If Jackson joins the Lakers, he will have to adjust to the new system. LA looks a lot different now. The NBA looks a lot different now.

Carmelo Anthony should make things easier for the team next season. He got a one-year deal but the Lakers should consider signing him again. Melo was part of the New York Knicks and Jackson was part of the franchise, too. This will be of great help in the future.

“We were at a pivotal time in offense, in the game, and the way it was going. Because the triangle, it works – but the game is getting faster. Guys are getting quicker, guys are jumping out the gym, it’s like, we can’t slow it down when we’ve got a fast break,” Anthony told JJ Redick during an episode of The Old Man and the Three Podcast, “It wasn’t hard to learn, but it was hard to execute it because the player personnel wasn’t there. But also, because Phil wasn’t the coach.”
