LeBron James Joke Landed With a Thud for Lakers

LeBron James cracked the most terrifying April Fools joke and it was more than enough to make people talk. The four-time NBA champion told everyone that he was out for the season. Some fans took him seriously, because he deals with a bad ankle injury. Let’s not forget that LeBron has already missed time due to injuries. He was joking. Of course. However, this joke reminded everyone of the situation in LA.

The Lakers entered the regular season as top contenders. They had a great roster and fans had great expectations from the team. It didn’t work though. Russell Westbrook’s arrival didn’t improve the team. Moreover, he was a bad trade. Westbrook has decent stats, but his performance made things worse.

The Lakers owned the 11^th seed in the West. The team is in a bad position right now and their playoff hopes may be over on April 10. Rob Pelinka had different plans for his team, but the Lakers are outside the playoff picture right now.

LeBron James is the best basketball player of all time. He has been able to win games on his own. However, the Lakers deal with serious competition this season and LeBron really wanted his teammates to try harder. Lakers players lost games to weaker opponents. It doesn’t get any worse than this.

Mark Cuban and other general managers are definitely happy. They won’t have to worry about the Lakers anymore. Sort of.

“I think the NBA is in great position right now,” Cuban told Heavy.com. “There are no dramatic changes that I think need to be made.”

The Lakers will have to make things work. They have to get rid of the players who make too many mistakes on the floor. What about Frank Vogel? If the Lakers don’t make the playoffs this season, the front office may move on from him. Several sources linked Doc Rivers to the Lakers. He has shown great respect for the team and LeBron likes him a lot. Let’s see how this goes. Lakers fans have a few reasons to be worried right now.
