Executive Discusses Lakers Trade AD to East for 2 Former Top-10 Picks & All-Star

The Los Angeles Lakers finished their season too early. The front office has plenty of time to repair the damage. Rob Pelinka will lose a big chunk of his roster in free agency. He is also advised to trade some of his superstars. According to at least one analyst, the Lakers should trade LeBron James, AD, and of course, Russell Westbrook.

Davis missed too many games in the last couple of seasons. He is prone to injuries and trade talks started long before the end of the regular season. Many thought Davis should sign with the Chicago Bulls. Of course, his injuries placed a black dot on his value. When healthy, AD is one of the best players in the NBA. However, this didn’t stop fans from speculating.

Lakers may find a good trade partner and send AD away

Stephen A. Smith was among the first to discuss Davis’ value on the trade market. Sean Deveney wouldn’t agree on this one. An Eastern Conference executive told him that Davis is a valuable player. According to the executive, “a team like Chicago, where he is from, they would bend over backwards to get him.”

Imagine a trade package revolving around Davis and the Bulls.

“I don’t think there is a lot that the Bulls would give up Patrick Williams for, but if you’re talking about bringing Anthony Davis back to Chicago, as an organization, they would get on board with that,” the executive said. “It would make a lot of sense on both sides, except that LeBron and Klutch want AD in Los Angeles. But Williams and Coby White with that expiring (Nikola) Vucevic contract, it is a good package both ways. If you are the Lakers, maybe you try to pull a pick, too.”

Davis has been linked to his hometown team for quite some time. Bulls fans thought he’d leave the Lakers to join their favorites, but Davis inked a contract extension with the Lakers. He and LeBron make the most lethal duo in the NBA. Why would the Lakers trade him now?
